Have you ever wondered the struggles Walt Disney experienced before becoming the Walt Disney we know today? Walt’s Imagination: The Life of Walt Disney written by Doreen Rappaport shares the secrets of Walt’s life that many of his admirers may not already know. From life on the farm to Disney’s early days as an animator. We are given an open window into the struggles that this one man overcame and how he succeeded in leaving a magical legacy that will live on for ages to come.
Read more from Disney Hyperion Books:
“Walt Disney ‘s name is synonymous with family entertainment. Mickey Mouse, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Bambi, Disneyland, and numerous other creations have inspired generations of children the world over.
From his childhood in rural Missouri to his legendary stature as a film and television icon, Walt governed his life with imagination, ingenuity, and scrupulous attention to detail. Faced with both public failures and massive success, he revolutionized the art form of animation, always seeking innovative solutions, cutting edge technology, and new ways of storytelling.
Charting Walt’s progression from farm boy to actor to artist, animator, director, and entertainment celebrity, Walt’s own words are presented and contextualized within Doreen Rappaport’s signature compelling prose. Illustrated with vivid authenticity by animator/painter John Pomeroy, this stunning entry in the award-winning Big Words series reveals a man of deep and varied passions with a constantly evolving vision, and a storyteller above all.”
Truly an inspiring piece that will live long in the hearts of everyone who reads it. Imagination is the spark in all of us; breathe life into it and the end result is something magical.

Looking for good eats and a striking time? Check out Splitsville Luxury Lanes at Disney Springs and get your family game on! Not your everyday bowling alley. With a mix of retro vibes and classy dining; Splitsville is redefining this popular sport. Grab your ball and let’s get rollin’.
It is recommended to reserve your lanes 24 hours in advance, especially if you have a large group. Spare me…Splitsville does offer walk in pricing, but this is not a guarantee. Lane usage is based on your party size to maximize your game and you will be pleased to know the shoe rental and bumpers are included.
Upon arrival you will check in at the front desk where you will provide names and shoes
sizes for all bowlers. Make sure to inform the cast member of any bowlers that would like to use bumpers. This information will be saved to their bowling profile. During the game the bumpers will set when the bowler’s profile requires them and drop when not needed. This is super cool! Everyone can bowl on the same lane and are accommodated as needed. Your shoes will then be placed in a basket and a cast member will guide your party to the assigned lane for your game. Take caution: the game time will already be ticking away so you may want to be fast on your feet and get your game shoes on.
Got the munchies? Splitsville is home to some of the most tantalizing “Alley Food” known to mankind. The unique menu offered is a blend of traditional and upscale offerings that will send your taste buds spinning. A few of my menu favorites include:
Splitsville’s mouth watering Filet Sliders
tangy California Crunch
and the Meat Lover’s Pizza all served fresh to your family lane. That’s right ya’ll…this ain’t your momma’s bowling alley! Don’t forget to get your drink on! Drink to your heaven’s content…I recommend the slushie in a souvenir cup!
My family and I had a fabulous time! There is so much family friendly fun going on it is hard not to. The staff is incredibly warmhearted and works hard to deliver the Disney Magic. It is just an awesome place to kick back and relax while getting a friendly game on. Thank you Splitsville for your hospitality and inviting our family to roll with ya!
Mickey Mouse is one of my favorite Classic Disney Characters. He started it all! So it is only fitting that we honor him in the Walt Disney Marathon Weekend Kid Races. This year is the 20th Anniversary of the Walt Disney World® Half Marathon presented by Cigna, and our first year participating. My sweet boy, Noah will hold his banner high as he crosses the finish line in his 2nd Run Disney Kid Race this January in the iconic Mickey Mouse costume pictured above. Three exceptionally talented and extremely gracious Etsians helped put this very special run costume together.
Strut your stuff in the hippest pair of ears around! The Mickey Ears ball cap was designed by Gina Roberts, the owner and designer for Gigi’s Flower Fancy. Roberts has been selling her handmade crafts since the 80’s and can now be found on Etsy. She has a passion for making Disney hats and other Disney paraphernalia. Using the “ear-perfection” method, Roberts is able to create stay up ears that do not sag, wilt, or flop. You can stuff em in a bag and the felt ears will pop back up every time. Customize your ball cap to your fancy by adding a bow, flower, or a monogram…get ear crazy! Perfect for a Halloween costume, day at the park, Disney weddings, and Run Disney Outfits! The cap is available in adult or child size and is easily adjusted for the perfect fit making them RUN PROOF!
The Classic Style Mickey shorts used for Noah’s run costume was designed by Cherylyn Morris owner of One Two Three Shop Boutique on Etsy. Cherylyn’s love for clothing design was stirred when she was a teen in high school nearly 20 years ago when she needed a new skirt for school. Knowing that her mother was not going to purchase a new skirt, Morris got creative and gave new life to her old one. Today, her inspiration derives from her children as she now designs storybook clothing. Her shop features an array of dresses and tops inspirited by magical characters that can be worn by your child everyday. The Mickey shorts are really to cute for words, I mean they are just perfect! Cherylyn has replicated Mickey’s classic red shorts with two large white circles (the buttons) on the front. They are made with a light, thin material allowing your young runner to stay cool in the heat of the race. The elastic waist gives an extra stretch to provide a comfortable fit.
This runner costume would not be complete without Mickey’s white gloves. The gloves used in this costume were designed by Alicia of Alicia Marie Create. The gloves are made from nylon/spandex material with the tips cut off to allow for breathability while running. Detailed with three black stripes representing Mickey’s three fingers as originally designed by Walt Disney. They are perfect to complete your outfit for a Disney marathon or any costume run! If you live in a colder state you can also find thicker “Winter” gloves in Alicia’s Etsy shop. Gloves can be made in adult or child size and take up to a week to ship as they are made to order and customized to meet your needs.
This costumes is perfect for your young runner and will definitely bring home the Big Cheese at any Run Disney event!
I am very grateful to Gina, Cherylyn, and Alicia for sharing their talent and custom designs to help put this look together.
Planning a future visit to the happiest place on earth? Express yourself in Disney Style with Dylan’s Designs! This magical tee shop on Etsy offers Expressive word tee’s for the entire family!
This husband and wife team make the most adorable Disney shirts that will surely enhance your interaction with the characters and cast members throughout Disney World. Danielle, of Dylan’s Designs sent us some of her most popular tee’s to have fun in and I swear they came with an extra pinch of pixie dust, because we had a blast wearing them around the parks! We quickly learned the characters just love reading what the shirt says at the meet and greet’s and interacted accordingly, making our experience priceless!
To start our adventure, my son put together this cute lil ensemble:
The hat did not come signed. Donald signed it when we found him…but that comes much later! We set off for an adventure through Epcot to find our amigo, Donald Duck. This was the best adventure by far! As we journeyed through Future World and into the World Showcase we met up with several of our magical friends.
Pictured above is my son, Noah looking super cool in the Donald is my Fave tee from Dylan’s Designs “Fave” series. The “Fave” series includes Hook, Pluto, Evil Queen, Stitch, and Rapunzel just to name a few. More Disney Hero’s and Villains are available! As you can see the response was well received. Goofy and Pluto (not pictured) were not thrilled that they came at a close second to Donald. Goofy was insistent that he was Noah’s #1! Daisy totally agreed and got all giddy making the shape of a heart in the air. (check out the cute video on Instagram of this interaction.) Donald was so excited and wanted to keep Noah. In fact, after the picture taking Donald hugged Noah and waved goodbye to me. He would not let Noah go. I wish I had this on video, but it all happened so fast. Noah had “the best day ever” all because of this t-shirt!
But the fun didn’t stop there! We had many more reasons to visit the parks and here are just a few pictures capturing our summer time magic!
Just a lil note about the quality of the shirts: these tee’s are soft and not form fitting. The design is printed directly onto the tee, so no worries about peeling, cracking or fading (this is a plus!) Recommended shirt is turned inside out for washing with like colors and in cool water.
Add a lil magic to your Disney visit and fly on over to Dylan’s Designs to get your hands on these awesome tee’s and snag a few from their holiday collection!
With every Disney Run my children are closer to earning those golden ears of achievement. They are already registered for three future Run Disney events with two more on the list. I am sure we will have these events on repeat year after year. Completing a race is exhilarating and an achievement one should be very proud of. In fact this success should be shouted from a mountaintop! Or leave it to Magical Run Concierge to find the perfect tee to do the bragging for you. My daughter fancied this tee, “I’m earning my ears one stride at a time!” As a new runner, this tank is perfect for practice day, race day, or any day and tells the story of all races; past, present, and future. It is flowy-not fitted which allows air flow and keeps your runner cool. I love how the ears shimmer and sparkle; as if Tinker Bell sprinkled pixie dust all over.
So sparkly and will continue to sparkle after a cool washing with other like color clothing. Material is soft and color does not fade if you follow the directions provided for washing.
You can also find tanks inspired by Run Disney Race themes that will make you just as cool as our dear friend Mickey Mouse! Here are some of my faves:
