Summer BBQ’s just got easier!

Grilling just got easier thanks to GrillFella’s and their BBQ Wok.  Now you can grill veggies safely over the BBQ without that charcoal taste ruining the flavor of your food.  Simply place the GrillFella Wok directly on the tray of the Grill and fire away!  Use can also use the Wok to separate your finer meats on the grill.  The wok is available in silver and copper and sold on Amazon.  I received a complimentary wok in exchange for an honest review.  I think this is a great product and it does make it easier to grill more items on the BBQ for family parties.  I have some picky eaters that will not eat anything if it has touched something else and now I dont have to worry about that.  I simply prepare their food in the wok away from all the rest.

Cascade Platinum holds the ultimate power!

Awesome turnout last night!  My friends and I got together to put Cascade Platinum to the ultimate test. We made a HUGE mess with some super cheesy mac and cheese.

Recipe for Mac and Cheese (courtesy of The Pioneer Woman)  this is the best mac and cheese ever!!!

4 cups Dried Macaroni

1 whole egg beaten

1/4 cup butter

1/4 cup all-purpose flour

2-1/2 cups whole milk

2 teaspoons dry mustard

1 pound grated cheese

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon seasoned salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Directions:  Cook Macaroni until very firm.  Macaroni should be too firm to eat right out of the pot.  Drain.

In a small bowl, beat egg.  In a large pot, melt butter and sprinkle in flour.  Whisk together over medium-low heat.  Cook mixture for five minutes, whisking constantly.  Don’t let it burn.  Pour in milk, add mustard, and whisk until smooth  Cook for five minutes until very thick.

Reduce heat to low.  Take 1/4 cup of the sauce and slowly pour it into beaten egg, whisking constantly to avoid cooking eggs.  Whisk together til smooth.

Pour egg mixture into sauce, whisking constantly.  stir until smooth.  Add in cheese and stir to melt.  Add salt and pepper.  Taste sauce and add more salt and seasoned salt as needed!  Pour in drained, cooked macaroni and stir to combine.

Make this recipe and your taste buds will thank me!!!

There was all kind of super sticky gooey mess and some chocolatey, crumby goodness leftover.  Our plates were hopelessly dirty and some of the food had been sitting for hours.  Normally I would have to scrub the dishes to get the dried cheese and chocolate crust off.  Not this time.  I dumped out the large pieces off food and didn’t pre-rinse.  Is Cascade up for this challenge???  That is what I want to know!  So we loaded the dishwasher…

Poured in some Cascade Platinum Rinse Aid

And tossed in a power pac…don’t let the pretty colors deceive you!  This lil pac is full of cleaning power!

We kicked up our feet and chatted a bit…

Here are some neat facts we learned along the way:

DID YOU KNOW??? There is no need to pre-wash when you use Cascade Platinum to wash your dishes. Cascade Platinum works best when food soil is left on the dishes because it special enzymes latch onto that food, breaking it down so it can wash away. If there’s no food soil, there’s nothing for the enzymes to attach to and your detergent isn’t working hardest for you.

DID YOU KNOW??? Most dishwashers have built in garbage disposals. This disposal works the same as the disposal in your sink.

DID YOU KNOW??? You should stack your dishes high and low, but making sure bulk items do not block the sprayer.

This next tip is awesome!

DID YOU KNOW???  Thread any long utensils through the coffee-mug handles to help keep them secure in the wash.

This next tip from Cascade made me think, “wow so that’s how you do that!”

DID YOU KNOW???  Set glasses between the lines on the rack NOT over them as wet contact points can cause spots.

I have been doing it all wrong for so many years!!!

So once our lil chit chat was through, it was time to check the dishwasher.  The truth of Cascade Platinum was revealed!!!  We stood around the dishwasher and when we opened the door we all stared in wow!

Ta Daaaaa!!!!

cascade1 cascade2

ohhhh look how sparkly and how clean!!!  Even the food that was sitting for over 24 hours was gone!  And look at those perfectly lined glasses…I can see my reflection in them!  This clean with no pre-rinse and only one wash!

Cascade did it again!  My party guests were super amazed, as was I.

Candy Cane yummy tummy fun.

Do you still have Candy Cane’s lying around the house?  Try this super easy, kid friendly food craft with the kids.

Use a toaster oven and set to 250, soften chocolate and spread using back of spoon, add sprinkles, and let cool for 30 minutes to an hour before wrapping individually.  My first batch didn’t come out very well because I had the oven set to 450 and the candy cane started to melt.  My last two batches I set oven to 250 degrees Fahrenheit and it worked great.  The chocolate softened within minutes.

A family favorite

It wouldn’t be quite like Christmas without Pretzel Hugs!!!  Four years ago while in a creative mood I discovered how easy it was to make homemade pretzel hugs and I have made them every Christmas since then.  How delish it is to bite into two pretzels hugging sweet chocolate!!!  These are sure to be a hit and are a perfect sweet treat at Christmas.  My niece absolutely loves them and it is requested that I make her a special batch that she can enjoy all by herself.  I guarantee these will become a family favorite!

Simply place pretzels on a lined cookie sheet (lined with wax paper.) Place a piece of chocolate on pretzel.  I like the Bliss white chocolate.  Place in oven on 350 degrees for 10 to 20 seconds.  Just long enough for the chocolate to glisten.  This is the start of the chocolate softening.  Take out of the oven and place a second pretzel on top of soft chocolate and push down.  Let cool and enjoy!

How do you dress your refrigerator?

My fridge is looking oh so good lately!  Haha, yes my fridge!  It is my favorite decorated piece in my home. A fridge is not just for keeping your food cold.  It is where I showcase report cards, art work, special notes, and pictures.  It is where memories are hung and remembered.  My children feel a sense of pride when something they have drawn or an assignment that comes home with an Awesome A is hung on the door of the fridge.  I can honestly say I love decorating my fridge.  But I cant use just any boring old magnet to hold my special dressings up.  It has to be something pretty and special!  I absolutely adore these photo clothespin magnets by One More Sunshine.

Mary from One More Sunshine sent me a complimentary set with my sweet munchkins on em and I am more in love with my fridge now. (kiddos in image are not mine.)  Thanks to Mary I can now showcase work from each child by hanging them up on their very own personalized photo clothespin magnet.  Her personalized magnets make a perfect gift this Christmas.  10% of all orders  go to pseudoachondroplasia research, a rare genetic condition Mary’s daughter has. You may enter the Holiday Giveaway to win a complimentary set.  So….leave a comment and share how you dress up your fridge!
