A Plague of Unicorns- a book review

unnamed (1)

Excitement filled the house when we received Jane Yolen’s latest book, “A Plague of Unicorns.”   What mythical creatures and great adventures in a land of fantasy we were about to discover.  This is our first Jane Yolen book, and yet Yolen is no stranger to our family.  She is one of my favorite illustrators.  She has illustrated a number of books written by Karma Wilson and has brought life to Bear!  Oh, how I love Bear and his great adventures.

Jane Yolen has written an enchanted story that will engage both young boys and girls alike.  Readers will be charmed by the characters and will find themselves lost in the middle of a great story.  The story is set in a make-believe medieval village; a time that is unfamiliar and captivating to Yolen’s young audience.  In this magical tale Callanshire, James, son of the Duke of Callander is sent away at the early age of 9 to study at Cranford Abbey.  The school tries to stay financially afloat by making apples into cider.  But the Unicorns also love apples and shortly after they plague the school.  No matter what the monks do, they are not able to get rid of the horned creatures.  James Callanshire remains brave, caring, courageous, and becomes a hero!  Find out how…get yourself a copy today!222
