A lil Polka!

Oh how I love polka dots!  They are so in this season!  Catheryn owner and jewelry artist of Some Kind of Pretty has the cutest!  polka dot earrings that she has handmade.  She was so sweet to send me a pair.  I have to say these lil cuties are perfect with any outfit, dress em up or dress em down.  I love how they go so well with a pair of jeans and a tee for my lazy days and still so perfect for a dressier look for church or a night on the town.

Catheryn is a recent college graduate with a degree in business and a beautiful talent in the art of jewelry making.
Get to know the artist:
) How did you get started making jewelry?
I got started with a beaded bobby pin kit that my oldest sister gave me when I was a kid. With the encouragement and support from my family, I have been able to grow my hobby into a small business.
2) What is your favorite piece that you have ever created? Who was it for and why is it your favorite?
This is such a tough question! But, I do have a favorite. It is these pearl necklaces that I made for all the women in my family for Christmas. I hand knotted fresh water pearls and a Swarovski crystal. The crystal that was in the center of each necklace, was from a necklace from my Grandma. She passed away earlier that Spring. We were all still coping with her passing and my Grandpa’s passing. (They passed within 6 weeks of each other) So this piece holds a special place in my heart.
3) Where are you originally from?
I was born in Houston, Texas. But I moved to middle Georgia when I was about 7 and have grown up here. I have been lucky to grow up in such a diverse city. I have been exposed to all kinds of people and personalities. I think this has made open minded to meeting new people.
4) Who do you admire most and why?
I admire my mom the most. She has always had such a high level of energy and is the best mom ever. She taught me so much from cooking, sewing, design, and how to be a good person. I just hope that when I become a mom, that I can have at least some of her wisdom. Her and my dad have taught me so much about being independent.
5) If you were stranded on a deserted island, what three items would you want or need, other than food and water?
Hmmm…Do people count?? lol
Probably my jewelry tools (to make some awesome jewelry!), my pullover hoodie, and family pictures. All things that bring me some degree of comfort.
Some Kind of Pretty also does custom orders for weddings.
